How It Works
The science behind a great-sounding room.
Not opinion. Physics.

Standard treatment makes rooms worse.
Most acoustic materials — foam, fibreglass panels, rockwool — are highly absorptive above 1kHz. Below 250Hz, they do almost nothing. The physics don't allow it: absorbing a 63Hz wave (wavelength: 5.4 metres) requires depth or mass that a 50mm foam panel simply doesn't have.
The result of treating a room with only these materials: dead-sounding above 500Hz, boomy and reverberant below. An imbalanced RT curve that is measurably, audibly worse than an untreated room.
